For those that do not respond to medications or prefer to treatment without the use of medications, the Rezum procedure is an in-office procedure performed without the use of general anesthesia that can be  very effective for many men. Vasectomy

Vasectomy is a permanent form of birth control for males.  It entails cutting or blocking two tubes, called the vasa differentia so that sperm can no longer get into the semen.

A vasectomy is usually done in a doctor’s office or in an outpatient surgery center.  It can usually be completed in less than 20 minutes. Patients area wake and are given a local anesthetic to numb their scrotum.  Oral anti-anxiety medications are offered to patients to improve comfort during the procedure.

Dr. Smith will make a small puncture on each side of the scrotum and pull out a small section of the vas deferens. The ends of the vasa deferentia will be sealed with small clips and cauterized.  You should expect to feel slight tugging or pulling during the procedure. One dissolvable suture is used on each side.

Pills are the most common treatments for ED. Avanafil (Stendra), sildenafil (Viagra), tadalafil (Cialis) and vardenafil (Levitra, Staxyn) will work for most men. You take these medications before sex. When they work, you can get a normal erection when you’re turned on. While pills are the most popular treatment, there are others. Self-injected medications can work. Before sex, you put these into the side of the penis. In the long run, they may also improve blood flow and potency. Testosterone replacement therapy may help men with low levels of the hormone in certain patients.
